Mandalika (ANTARA) - Pembalap Red Bull KTM Tech3 Maverick Vinales memutuskan mundur dari MotoGP Indonesia karena cedera bahunya semakin parah dan tidak memungkinkannya untuk melanjutkan balapan.

Sebelumnya Vinales sempat mengikuti sesi kualifikasi MotoGP Indonesia di Sirkuit Mandalika, Lombok Tengah, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Sabtu, namun namanya kini sudah tidak tercantum dalam starting grid untuk balapan sprint race.

"Maverick Vinales akan mundur dari Grand Prix Indonesia. Telah diputuskan bersama tim, bahwa Maverick akan fokus pada pemulihan cedera bahu kiri," demikian bunyi pernyataan Red Bull KTM Tech3 di media sosial, Sabtu.

Vinales menderita cedera bahu kiri sejak insiden kecelakaan di GP Jerman, yang belum mendapatkan penanganan lebih lanjut.

Pembalap berjuluk Top Gun ini menjalani musim perdananya bersama KTM dengan performa yang kurang impresif sejak mengalami cedera di Sachenring.

Akibatnya, cedera itu juga telah membuat Vinales absen dari sejumlah balapan. Dan kini, sang pembalap Spanyol dipastikan melewatkan aksi perlombaan di Mandalika guna fokus memulihkan diri sepenuhnya.
